My experience as a Rice University graduate, former award-winning teacher in HISD, a candidate taking zero corporate PAC $, startup founder, education nonprofit leader, electoral reform advocate, and renewable energy developer has given me a unique perspective on SD-15’s challenges. I would be the first minority to represent this 70% majority-minority district in Texas’s history, the first AAPI in the history of the Texas Senate, as well as one of the first ever in clean energy.
Gun violence and political reform are my top priorities. I'll implement safety measures like universal background checks, increasing murder clearance rates, and tackle root causes through more funding for mental health support and jobs. To reform politics, I plan to legalize citizen-led ballot initiatives, allowing direct votes on key issues such as Political reform is another prominent issue. I will introduce legislation to legalize citizen-led ballot initiatives, so Texans can put reproductive freedom, universal-gun background checks, Medicaid Expansion, campaign finance limits, ranked choice voting, connecting ERCOT to other states, and more on the ballot like folks in other states.
