Backlog
How will you address the case backlog in your court to ensure timely resolution for all parties?
I would address the backlog through consistent docket management, clear expectations for attorneys, and prompt rulings. Cases requiring hearings or trial will be set and heard without unnecessary delay. My experience as a County Court Chief at the Harris County DA’s Office and as an attorney practicing daily in the Harris County criminal courts has shown me that preparation, communication, and accountability are essential to an efficient docket. My goal would be to resolve cases as efficiently as possible while ensuring that every defendant, victim, and party receives due process and meaningful consideration of their case.
Efficiency/accessibility
How will you ensure efficient and equitable resolution of matters that come before your court, and that all residents — regardless of their financial means — have meaningful access to legal resources?
I would promote efficient and equitable resolutions through consistent courtroom procedures, effective docket management, and individualized consideration of each case. A person’s financial circumstances should never determine the quality of justice they receive. I would ensure that eligible defendants have meaningful access to appointed counsel and necessary court resources, while also being mindful that repeated or unnecessary court appearances can impose serious burdens on working people. Efficiency should never come at the expense of due process. My goal would be a courtroom where every person is heard, treated with dignity, and receives equal justice regardless of financial means.
