Qualifications
What training, experience and characteristics qualify you for this position?
My 25+ year career experience in public accounting, banking and loan underwriting, and executive management comes with my consequential decision-making analysis that impacted people and businesses seeking loans and protecting the financial institutions shareholders. I was responsible for approving over 500 commercial loan applications worth $1 billion, which represented real people supporting their businesses, employees and families. As a loan officer and manager, I was often the final answer and carried the responsibility of protecting the institution’s investment and due diligence were followed. I was responsible for selecting the appraisers but I was also entrusted with investing tens of millions of dollars on behalf of the bank.
Issues
What are the two (2) most pressing issues that you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your “specific” plans/ideas for addressing these issues.
The duties of an appraisal district board are strictly limited to: 1) Propose an annual operating budget. 2) Hire the Chief Appraiser, who manages the day-to-day operations of the appraisal district as its CEO. 3) Appoint citizen applicants to the Appraisal Review Board (ARB). AI is an important tool in our lives today. In the budget review I will closely watch how AI is integrated into the HCAD operation and ensure we are funding only the most appropriate uses of AI technology so that taxpayers know property appraisals are conducted with fairness and transparency.Second, I will approach my duty to appoint members of the ARB with due diligence to ensure the process is free from political interference by implementing thorough interviews.
