Infrastructure
What is your approach to federal infrastructure investment, and how would you prioritize funding for energy, transportation, flood mitigation, and resilience needs in your district?
Fifty-two federal disaster declarations in forty years. That’s not bad luck. That’s bad priorities. I’ll fight for flood dollars that go straight to Alief, Sharpstown, and Gulfton, expand Hazard Mitigation funding for communities that can’t afford the match, and speed up FEMA relief so families aren’t waiting months. Buses that actually show up, zero-fare, with real FTA funding behind them, instead of another highway. A power grid that survives a Texas summer without data centers hoarding subsidies while our bills climb. And real participatory budgeting, so the people living with the flood decide how we fix it. Not developers. Not D.C. lobbyists. Just us.
Inflation
If elected to office, what will you do to address rising costs, especially with regard to groceries, childcare, and housing?
The American Dream shouldn’t cost this much. The price of just getting by keeps climbing while wages sit still and corporations post record profits. That’s not a free market. That’s a rigged one. I’ll fight for a $25 minimum wage tied to real cost of living, keep Wall Street out of our housing market, expand Community Land Trusts, protect tenants’ right of first refusal, and back year-round food assistance so no kid in TX-7 goes hungry when school lets out. This isn’t about handouts. It’s about a Congress that answers to the people paying the bills, not the people funding the campaigns
Immigration
What is your position on federal immigration enforcement and detention policies? What specific changes, if any, would you support to how those policies are implemented?
Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was a Houston father and homebuilder. He wasn’t even the man ICE was looking for. He’s dead anyway, shot on Canal Street by an agent wearing no body camera, with no answers since. That’s not law enforcement. That’s zero accountability, and I won’t look away from it. I support abolishing ICE and rebuilding enforcement around due process: body cameras on every federal agent, independent investigation of every use of force, a lawyer for every person facing removal, and an end to private detention profiteering. Federal agents should answer to the people they serve, not the other way around.
Voting
What changes, if any, to current laws related to voter registration, voter ID, and mail-in ballots would you support and why?
Democracy shouldn’t come with a paywall or an obstacle course. I’ll fight to expand voting, not restrict it: automatic and same-day registration, no-excuse mail-in voting protected, no voter ID laws that quietly lock out people without easy access to documents. I back federal standards for fair ballot access and nonpartisan primaries, and I’m a strong advocate for Ranked Choice Voting, because Texans deserve better than “the lesser of two evils.” Career politicians win by keeping turnout low and choices narrow. I win by making sure everyone actually gets counted.
