Qualifications
What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?
I’m running for governor to build opportunity, not division. As a civil rights attorney, public education advocate, and legislator, I’ve spent my career delivering for working Texans.
Healthcare
What would you do to make health care more affordable for Texans?
Every Texan deserves affordable, high-quality health care. I’ll deliver billions for local health systems and will expand coverage, insure every Texas child, and rein in insurers that profit from bad-faith denials and prior authorization red tape. We need transparency and accountability so families get the care they already paid for.
Immigration
How would you address immigration issues affecting our state while ensuring all individuals within our borders have access to due process protections?
We can secure the border while treating immigrants humanely and protecting due process. Longtime, law-abiding residents should have a path to legal status. Fear-driven crackdowns that separate law abiding families and deter witnesses from cooperating with law enforcement make communities less safe, not more.
Education
What would you do to ensure that public schools are adequately and reliably funded?
I’ve fought Abbott’s voucher scheme and for real, reliable funding for neighborhood public schools. As governor, I’ll wipe clean the corrupt vendor contracts to raise teacher pay, end the voucher scam, and ensure Texans’ taxpayer dollars go where they belong: into the neighborhood schools families depend on.
Elections
As Governor, how would you empower voters to participate in democracy?
I’ve filed and supported dozens of bills to expand voting access, including online voter registration and better ballot access for students. I led the 2021 quorum break to protect Sunday voting and oppose barriers targeting eligible voters. I also support an independent redistricting commission so politicians can’t pick their voters.
