Backlog
How will you address the case backlog in your court to ensure timely resolution for all parties?
I will continue addressing the docket with the same disciplined, common-sense approach I have used since taking the bench in 2023. We have reduced the docket by half, while maintaining the lowest, or among the two lowest, dockets in the County Criminal Courts since 2023. I have accomplished this by enforcing deadlines, setting clear expectations, and running an efficient, accountable courtroom. I keep cases moving by communicating clearly about what is required and hold myself and attorneys to the same standards. I will continue these practices to ensure timely and fair resolutions, while avoiding unnecessary delays.
Efficiency/accessibility
How will you ensure efficient and equitable resolution of matters that come before your court, and that all residents — regardless of their financial means — have meaningful access to legal resources?
I will continue to ensure that every case is handled efficiently, fairly, and in accordance with the law. I remain committed to making sure both victims and defendants are heard and that everyone’s rights are respected and upheld. I review indigent defense applications to ensure that those who cannot afford counsel have prompt access to qualified legal representation. We also make job resource packets available to individuals who are unemployed. My additional training and experience in drug addiction and mental health help me identify appropriate resources and solutions when those issues impact a case.
