Qualifications
What training, experience and characteristics qualify you for this position?
As a nonprofit leader and community organizer, I have spent my career working with community members and elected officials to advocate for policies that improve the lives of communities where I live and work. I will use my experience as someone who has worked in a variety of communities to meet the MOMENT in local politics. We need our local leaders to find informed and proactive solutions to the unprecedented challenges working class residents are facing in Harris County. As your next HCAD Member I will continue to advocate for Harris County residents to ensure they have have an accessible and transparent Appraisal District.
Issues
What are the two (2) most pressing issues that you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your “specific” plans/ideas for addressing these issues.
If elected, my top priority will be to represent the residents of Harris County to the best of my ability. To that end, I believe that two of the core issues facing the Harris Central Appraisal District right now are accessibility and transparency. These two issues are vital to a functioning appraisal district, and they go hand in hand. Improving accessibility starts with ensuring that we have processes in place that will support our diverse constituency. As your next HCAD Member, I will advocate to have a modernized appraisal district that includes investing in resources to help residents have a smooth appraisal process. Not only will this help with accessibility concerns but it will also improve transparency across the district.
