Qualifications
What training, experience and characteristics qualify you for this position?
Im running for this seat not just as a candidate, but as a Harris County property owner who’s lived the affordability squeeze this district oversees. I grew up in Houston and hoped to buy in Third Ward or Alief ,but was priced out of both, in buying and renting, and ended up settling in Cypress instead. That experience is exactly why I believe HCAD needs directors who understand what property owners are up against, not just how to run an appraisal process. I’m not a career appraiser or tax attorney. I’m a communicator, organizer, and advocate, and that’s what this watchdog seat needs: someone who will make the system understandable and accountable to the people it’s supposed to serve.
Issues
What are the two (2) most pressing issues that you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your “specific” plans/ideas for addressing these issues.
What ties all of this together is a track record of translating grassroots concerns into real, accessible programs. which is precisely my plan for this board: community workshops explaining how HCAD works, plain-language protest guides so neighbors don’t need a tax firm or lawyer, and a renewed focus on making sure taxpayers feel heard throughout the review process.
