Infrastructure
What is your approach to federal infrastructure investment, and how would you prioritize funding for energy, transportation, flood mitigation, and resilience needs in your district?
I believe in fixing what’s broken before building new, and spending where it saves the most money and lives. My priorities, in order: Energy first — a tougher, more reliable power grid to handle extreme weather and rising demand, with a focus on lowering energy costs for families and businesses, not just keeping the lights on. Transportation second — repair our roads, bridges, and transit before building new projects. Flood mitigation third — preventing flood damage costs far less than cleaning up after a disaster. Every dollar should come with clear deadlines and real accountability for delays or cost overruns.
Inflation
If elected to office, what will you do to address rising costs, especially with regard to groceries, childcare, and housing?
Too many families are working hard and still falling behind, and I think that starts with wages. I'll fight for a living wage, so a full-time job actually covers the basics without people having to work two or three jobs just to get by. Groceries— I'll push back on price gouging and support more competition to keep food prices honest. Childcare — I'll back tax credits and real investment to make childcare affordable, so parents can work without it costing them financially. Housing— I'll support building more homes and cutting the red tape that slows construction and drives up costs. At the end of the day, this isn't just about statistics. It's about whether people who work hard can actually get ahead, not just scrape by.
Immigration
What is your position on federal immigration enforcement and detention policies? What specific changes, if any, would you support to how those policies are implemented?
I oppose current federal immigration enforcement and detention policies. People have died in ICE custody at record rates, including cases ruled homicides and fatal shootings of unarmed individuals. Families should not be locked up or separated while their cases are processed, and I don’t support the aggressive raids and detention practices we’ve seen. I’d push for alternatives to detention, like case management and community-based programs, and support ending prolonged and mass detention. I also believe the agency needs strict oversight and accountability, with clear consequences for abuse or misconduct — including for deaths that occur on its watch. Immigration enforcement should focus on due process and human dignity, not punishment.
Voting
What changes, if any, to current laws related to voter registration, voter ID, and mail-in ballots would you support and why?
I support expanding access to voting, not restricting it. I’d back automatic and same-day voter registration so eligible citizens aren’t kept off the rolls by paperwork delays. I support expanding mail-in and early voting options, since they make voting easier for working families, seniors, and people with disabilities, without evidence of widespread fraud. On voter ID, I support reasonable options that don’t create unnecessary barriers, like accepting a range of ID types or allowing alternatives for those who don’t have one. Bottom line: our laws should make it easier for eligible voters to participate, not harder.
