Infrastructure
What is your approach to federal infrastructure investment, and how would you prioritize funding for energy, transportation, flood mitigation, and resilience needs in your district?
I would prioritize federal infrastructure funding that directly addresses the needs of our district: flood-control projects, drainage and bayou improvements, stronger roads and bridges, expanded public transit, and modernization of an electric grid that too often fails during extreme weather. I would also fight for investments in Port Houston and Ship Channel infrastructure while reducing pollution in surrounding neighborhoods. Federal dollars should strengthen storm resilience, improve evacuation routes, expand reliable energy, and create good-paying union jobs, with priority given to communities that have historically been underinvested in.
Inflation
If elected to office, what will you do to address rising costs, especially with regard to groceries, childcare, and housing?
Families are working harder and still falling behind. I would fight to lower grocery costs by cracking down on price-fixing, corporate consolidation, and companies that use inflation as cover to raise prices. I support expanding the Child Tax Credit, making childcare more affordable, and investing in universal pre-K. On housing, we need to build more affordable homes, expand assistance for first-time buyers and renters, and stop Wall Street firms from buying up entire neighborhoods and driving up prices. The economy should reward work—not corporations that profit by squeezing families on the basics.
Immigration
What is your position on federal immigration enforcement and detention policies? What specific changes, if any, would you support to how those policies are implemented?
I support secure borders and enforcement that focuses federal resources on genuine public-safety threats, not indiscriminate raids that terrorize families and communities. I would require ICE agents to clearly identify themselves, expand body-camera use and independent oversight, and restore strong limits on enforcement at schools, hospitals and places of worship. Detention should be reserved for people who pose a serious safety or flight risk, with humane conditions, medical care and meaningful access to counsel. I would expand alternatives to detention and end the use of private, for-profit immigration detention centers.
Voting
What changes, if any, to current laws related to voter registration, voter ID, and mail-in ballots would you support and why?
I support making voting secure, accessible, and convenient for every eligible citizen. I would support automatic voter registration, online and same-day registration, and expanded early voting. Voter ID requirements should allow a broad range of commonly held identification and provide free IDs to anyone who needs one. I would also expand access to mail-in voting, with strong signature verification, ballot tracking, and adequate time for voters to correct minor errors. I would also support the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore federal protections against discriminatory voting laws. Our goal should be simple: protect the integrity of elections while removing unnecessary barriers that keep eligible Americans from voting.
