Backlog
How will you address the case backlog in your court to ensure timely resolution for all parties?
I will address the case backlog through firm, accountable docket management. I will conduct monthly reviews to identify and prioritize older cases, establish firm trial settings, and closely scrutinize requests for continuances to prevent unnecessary delays. I will continuously monitor the age and status of pending cases to ensure cases keep moving and do not fall through the cracks. Taxpayers and litigants deserve a court that is efficient, organized, and accountable. My goal is simple: move cases forward, reduce unnecessary delays, and ensure every litigant receives a fair and timely opportunity to be heard.
Efficiency/accessibility
How will you ensure efficient and equitable resolution of matters that come before your court, and that all residents — regardless of their financial means — have meaningful access to legal resources?
I will ensure that every litigant receives equal treatment under the law, regardless of financial means, status, or whether they have an attorney. I will provide self-represented litigants with a fair opportunity to understand and navigate court procedures while maintaining strict neutrality and never giving either side an advantage. I will utilize available court resources and direct residents to appropriate legal-aid, lawyer-referral, and self-help resources. I will also monitor case-processing times and address barriers that cause unnecessary delays. Access to justice means a fair, understandable, and accessible process applied consistently to everyone.
