Disaster Recovery
What measures should the state take to respond quickly and effectively to disasters?
Work with local and national food and construction material suppliers to get everything to everybody in storm affected areas. Get money directly to the people in need.
Veterans
What new initiatives or programs would you support to help veterans?
I wouldn’t create any new programs. I would ensure existing Texas veterans are being well taken care of. If it doesn’t already exist, possibly issue a debit card for them to receive treatments at any medical facility in Texas.
Flood Plain Management
What strategies would you support to reduce flooding risk and strengthen long-term community resilience and disaster recovery.
Work with nature and not against it. Make changes to areas that might be frequently damaged from storms and hurricanes. Nature eventually wins regardless of what we attempt.
Education Funding
What role should the General Land Office play in making sure that state lands generate long-term financial benefits for Texas public schools?
Revenue from the General Land Office goes into the Permanent School fund. Open the Permanent school fund to all Texas school children and not only Public school children. Include Private school and Homeschool children. Let’s support all Texas school children.
