What will you do to promote the just, prompt, and affordable resolution of civil cases that come before your court?
Every case that reaches the Court deserves careful attention to the facts, the law, and the Constitution. Justice requires a judge to be fair and unbiased with the law and to apply the law equally regardless of who appears before the Court. Judges should apply the law as written, remain grounded in precedent, and approach every decision with discipline and restraint. If a Judge fails to administer their cases quickly and efficiently then they are failing to do their job. Justice delayed is justice denied. Each case matters for the parties involved and prompt resolution makes a huge difference. Failure to have prompt resolutions costs the tax payers money. Attorneys are officers of the court and should be held to those expectations.
Court System
What specific actions would you take to ensure the timely resolution of cases while maintaining fairness for all parties?
Maintaining clear docket control orders to establish realistic time deadlines for cases while using strategic status conferences to ensure case progression and timely resolution of cases. I would encourage the parties to come to mutual resolution while preserving their constitutionally protected rights to a speedy trial and the right to a jury.
