Accountability
What will you do to promote the just, prompt, and affordable resolution of civil cases that come before your court?
As the presiding judge for the past 8 years, I will continue to actively manage the docket, promptly address matters requiring judicial intervention, set clear expectations, and move cases efficiently toward settlement, disposition, or trial without sacrificing due process. Having presided over 90 jury trials and being double Board Certified in Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law, I understand the real costs of delay. As Civil Administrative Judge and former chair of the Jury Committee overseeing jury operations for 80+ Harris County courts, I will continue using proven case-management and administrative practices to make our civil justice system efficient, accessible, and fair.
Court System
What specific actions would you take to ensure the timely resolution of cases while maintaining fairness for all parties?
I will maintain firm but reasonable deadlines, promptly resolve disputes that impede case progress, minimize unnecessary continuances, and provide meaningful opportunities for every party to be heard. My approach reflects nearly eight years on the bench, 90 jury trials, and statewide judicial leadership, including serving as President of the Texas Association of District Judges, representing 500+ judges. My work on the Texas Bench Book and judiciary’s COVID Response Task Force further informs my commitment to consistent, legally sound decisions and innovative court administration. Efficiency and fairness must work together.
