Budget
What would be your budget priorities during your term? What specific actions would you take to address these priorities?
To protect essential services, improve public safety and infrastructure, and ensure taxpayers get the best possible value for every dollar spent. First steps would be to conduct a department review of the county budget. I would ask every department to identify areas where spending can be reduced, programs that are no longer necessary, and services that may be duplicated elsewhere in county government. We need to know where we have overlapping programs, contracts, personnel, technology, or administrative functions before asking taxpayers for additional revenue. I would look for opportunities to consolidate services and eliminate unnecessary administrative costs where doing so does not reduce the quality of essential services.
Inflation
The 2025 State of Housing report found cost-burdened households are increasing across Harris County. What actions would you take as Commissioner to address housing affordability and the cost of living for residents of your precinct?
I would focus on increasing affordable housing, reducing unnecessary regulations and costs, and using existing county resources more efficiently. I would review current housing programs to identify duplication and waste, work with public and private partners to expand workforce and affordable housing, and prioritize infrastructure that supports responsible development. My goal would be to help lower the cost of living while protecting taxpayers and making better use of existing resources.
Role
How would you balance your responsibility to your precinct’s specific needs with your role as a member of Commissioners Court overseeing the full county budget and services?
I would advocate strongly for the needs of my precinct while keeping the best interests of Harris County as a whole in mind. I would prioritize funding based on needs, public safety, infrastructure, and responsible fiscal management. As Commissioner, my goal would be to ensure Precinct 2 receives its fair share of county resources while supporting policies that benefit taxpayers across Harris County.
Disaster Preparedness
What is your assessment of Harris County’s current level of investment in disaster preparedness and flood risk reduction, and what changes, if any would you prioritize?
Harris County’s current level of investment and execution is not where it needs to be. Taxpayers approved the $2.5 billion flood bond in 2018 with the expectation of meaningful flood protection, yet too many projects have been delayed. With only 3 of 17 federally funded projects awarded and the potential loss of $600 million in federal funding, we need greater urgency, accountability, and transparency. As Commissioner, I would prioritize completing projects, meeting federal deadlines, eliminating unnecessary delays, and providing taxpayers with clear, regular updates on how flood-protection dollars are being spent.
