Qualifications
What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you forthis position?
My experience as an educator, school counselor, special education advocate, small business owner, and community leader has prepared me to serve effectively in the Texas Senate. I understand the challenges facing working families because I have spent my career serving them. I am a listener, problem-solver, and bridge builder who believes leadership requires compassion, accountability, and common sense. I will bring People Over Politics and Solutions Over Slogans to the Texas Senate.
Healthcare
Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation. What steps would you take as a state senator to ensure access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services, for Texans who are currently uninsured or underserved?
Healthcare should not be a luxury determined by your ZIP code or income. As a state senator, I would support expanding Medicaid, strengthening rural and community health services, and lowering barriers to preventive care and affordable prescriptions. I would also prioritize mental health by expanding the behavioral health workforce, investing in school and community-based services, and improving crisis intervention. Texas can save lives and taxpayer dollars by providing care before crisis.
Education
What measures would you support to ensure adequate state funding for public schools and accountability for taxpayer funds used in voucher or education savings account programs?
I would prioritize fully funding our public schools so educators have the resources they need, teachers receive competitive pay, and special education and school safety mandates are properly funded. If taxpayer dollars are used for vouchers or education savings accounts, those funds must carry strong accountability. I support transparency, regular audits, academic and financial reporting, and protections against discrimination. Public dollars require public accountability.
Housing
What specific actions would you take to address the cost of living pressures facing Texans, including rising property taxes, homeowner and renter insurance costs, and housing affordability?
I would work to lower the cost of living without sacrificing essential services. That means providing meaningful property tax relief, increasing the state’s share of public education funding so homeowners aren’t carrying an unfair burden, and addressing skyrocketing insurance costs through stronger oversight and greater market competition. I would also support policies that expand affordable housing, protect renters from unfair practices, and encourage responsible development. Texas should remain a place where working families can afford to live, work, and retire.
