I am a retired businessman owning machine shops for about 15 years. I supervised two shifts with multiple employees. I've been involved with the Republican party since I was 18 years old.I
Healthcare
Texas has the highest uninsured rate in the nation. What steps would you take as a state representative to ensure access to affordable healthcare, including mental health services, for residents who are currently uninsured or underserved in your district?
I would help to develop and vote for any measures that would improve the ACA and seek to increase the number of providers who could provide more affordable healthcare to underserved communities.
Education
What measures would you support to ensure adequate state funding for public schools and accountability for taxpayer funds used in voucher or education savings account programs?
I would totally support Governor Abbott’s proposal for state funding for charter schools and I would insist on audits of all the programs to see if the money is being spent correctly.
Issues
What are the two most pressing issues unique to your district, and what specific, measurable actions would you take to address them during your term?
Property taxes and crime. I support Governor Abbott’s property tax proposal for the state to provide funds to pay the school tax portion of your property taxes. Homelessness is a large component of our crime issues. I would push to get judges to put criminals in jail instead of letting them out on the street with a slap on the wrist. Many criminals are homeless and soon as they get out of jail, they are off to the next crime.
