What training, experience, and characteristics qualify you for this position?
As a Home Builder in order to remain in business it is a must to bring in projects at or under budget. In private business you can not charge the customer for inadequate planning and mismanagement of funding. The Project must be completed before funding is granted.
Budget
Harris County is facing a projected $129 million budget deficit. How would you address this shortfall?
Its very important to note that Harris County has been operating in a budget deficit for the last five years. Would propose a 30% Budget cut in the following areas Healthcare and Law enforcement spending. Would freeze all efforts to raise Property taxes, Home owners can not be forced to pay more due to County Officials mismanagement of public funding.
Infrastructure
Harris County voters approved a flood control bond in 2018. How will you ensure those funds are deployed effectively, and what additional measures would you take to address flooding and infrastructure resilience across the county?
Would start with a fiscal audit and project completion times in the following areas. Storm water Detention, Channel Improvements, Property Buyouts and Land Preservation.
Accountability
How will you build consensus among Commissioners Court members to govern effectively, and what is your approach to transparency and accountability in county government?
It always important to remember that we are all elected to serve all of the people of Harris County not just the people we agree with. My approach to transparency and accountability in county government would be to involve the residents Harris County in public meetings, go into the field to meet residents and hear their concerns first hand.
