Ramona Franklin
I am qualified for this position based on my experience as a felony district court judge, along with prior service as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. I have presided over complex criminal matters with fairness, judicial restraint, and respect for due process. Having served in challenging and highly scrutinized environments, I am experienced in exercising independent judgment free from political pressure, while upholding the integrity, impartiality, and professionalism required of the judiciary.
Two of the most pressing issues in a felony district court are administering justice fairly and efficiently and maintaining public confidence in the courts. I will address these issues by managing the docket responsibly, applying the law consistently, and ensuring that individuals who appear in court understand the process and their rights. I strive to maintain a courtroom environment grounded in professionalism, transparency, and respect, so cases are handled fairly, resolved in a timely manner, and consistent with due process and the rule of law.
