BACKGROUND: Why are you running for this office?
ROLE OF TRUSTEES: How do you envision your role while HISD
operations and administration are under the supervision of the Texas
Education Agency rather than an elected Board of Trustees?

I dedicated more than 30 years to Houston ISD, serving as a math teacher, soccer coach, and middle school & high school principal. One truth has always remained: leadership matters.
Since retiring from HISD, I have continued to support public education as a Professor of Practice at the University of Houston’s College of Education, mentoring first-year teachers across all grade levels.
My decades inside HISD classrooms and campuses, combined with my current work training new educators, give me a deep understanding of what our schools, teachers, and students need to succeed—and the leadership experience to help make it happen.
As a Trustee, I will not initially have a vote on governance decisions, but I will have a platform—and I will use it to be a strong and consistent voice for my community. I believe words matter. They can shape minds, influence hearts, and reframe the conversation about our schools.
I will speak out against policies that harm students and educators, push for transparency in how decisions are made, and work to keep the public informed about what is happening inside HISD. I will actively engage parents, educators, and community members so they feel empowered to share their own stories and concerns, because a unified, vocal community is harder to ignore.
