Four ways to reach your council member

Contact their office

Every council office has a public email and phone line, listed at houstontx.gov/council. Staff read and log constituent contacts, your message becomes part of what the office hears from the district.

Public comment

Council holds a public session every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall, where residents can address the full council directly. Sign up in advance through the City Secretary's office. All meetings are open to the public and streamed live.

Send a Letter

Mail reaches every council office at one address. A physical letter, especially a personal one, still gets attention.

District events

Council members hold town halls, community meetings, and office hours in their districts. Follow your member's office on social media or join their newsletter to know when they're in your neighborhood.

Reaching the Mayor

The Mayor is Houston's chief executive, elected citywide, responsible for city departments, and the official who appoints the Chief of Police (with City Council confirmation). That makes the Mayor's office a direct channel for concerns about how city departments serve residents.

The Mayor's Assistance Office exists specifically to handle individual residents' concerns, coordinate responses through city departments, and take requests for city services. Its staff are also on hand at City Hall during Tuesday public sessions.
