Luis Garza
I have 32 years of experience in the justice of the peace courts as court clerk. I served from 2022-2023 in the Texas Justice Court Education Committee. This committee would develop classes for judges and court clerks across Texas. Under Chpt. 27 of the government code the clerks assist the judge in all matters of the court. I have been doing it for 32 years. I also hold a bachelor's degree in business administration. I currently hold the position of Chief Clerk for JP 2-1. As a chief clerk I over see the budget and accounts payable and account receivables. I also do docket management.
The first issue is to treat people with dignity and respect. Nobody likes to go to court and not be treated with dignity and respect. By treating respectfully and listening to their facts about the case and gathering the facts about their case to be able to rule accordingly to the law.

The second issue is having access to justice. The justice of the peace is the people's court. You do not need an attorney. These courts were designed so people can access justice, i would make sure that we would have a trained staff directing people on how to access justice. There all types of case with a diversity of court users. I would have my staff trained to give the court users access to all the services the justice of the peace has to offer.
