Nicolas Juan
I have dedicated a large portion of my free time fighting for causes and working on campaigns that I believe in. I have publicly testified against redistricting efforts, the THC ban bills, and for women's reproductive freedom in front of Texas Senate and Representative committees. As a renter and working Texan, I have first hand experience of how our current economy has affected all of us, and understand the severity of the constant threat of eviction, due to rising healthcare, grocery and rent costs. I have always championed our working folks, and will continue to help and elevate our renters and all Texans in the precinct to give us all more access to the justice we deserve.
Eviction cases need to be properly addressed and our courthouse needs to immediately modernize and become more efficient. We need more access to county and state resources and free legal aid for plaintiffs that are representing themselves to ensure they are never in the dark while navigating the complicated judicial system. Interpreters, kiosks and remote hearings will be offered. We will also provide easier options to resolve late and missed rent to help renters stay in their homes, while the landlords still get their payments. We also will hold out of state corporate landlords to the fullest extent of Texas law, and ensure they can no longer benefit from a courthouse that looks the other way or is complicit with these landlords.
