Carlos Alberto Aguayo
I am a licensed Texas attorney with extensive experience practicing criminal law in Harris County courts. My background includes service as an Assistant District Attorney as well as years of experience as a criminal defense attorney, representing individuals at all stages of the criminal justice process. I have handled daily court proceedings, contested hearings, and jury trials, which has given me a practical understanding of criminal procedure, evidence, and courtroom management.
I have also served in a supervisory role as a County Court Chief, where I mentored attorneys and worked closely with court staff and law enforcement, developing leadership, organization, and communication skills essential to managing a courtroom efficiently.

One pressing issue is managing heavy criminal dockets while ensuring cases are handled fairly and without unnecessary delay. To address this, I would emphasize clear scheduling, preparedness, and consistent courtroom procedures so cases move efficiently while all parties are heard.
A second issue is balancing public safety with constitutional protections and appropriate judicial discretion. Many cases involve underlying issues such as mental health or substance use. I would apply the law consistently, consider individualized circumstances as required, and use lawful alternatives when appropriate, while holding individuals accountable and prioritizing community safety.
