Four-year term. The governor is chief executive of the state, which means that they carry out the law. They appoint members to boards and commissions;
appoint statewide executive officials, state judges and district attorneys when vacancies occur; deliver the State of the State address;
provide guidance to the Legislature; call special sessions of the legislature and set the agenda. The governor can veto legislation (including a line-item veto on appropriations), sign legislation, or allow it to become law without their signature. Current annual salary: $153,750
