Desiree Klaus
I know firsthand the challenges working families face because I’ve lived them safe schools, affordable childcare, and balancing work and family. I’m the founder of Let’s Vámonos Network, a small business community media platform I started in 2020 to support local businesses, civic engagement, and local voices. I’ve spent over 20 years in customer service and have worked in healthcare and the insurance industry, learning how to communicate, stay organized, and be accountable to the people I serve. I’m also an active community volunteer and coalition builder. As a mother, wife, and small-business owner, I lead with real-life experience and a deep commitment to strengthening our community.
The two most important issues in District 128 are school safety and better jobs with higher wages. No child should go to school feeling unsafe, and no family should be working full time and still struggling to get by. I will build regulation that expands violence prevention in schools, with concise safety protocols, transparent reporting, and independent oversight when serious incidents occur. Principals should not be appointed campus behavior coordinators. Campuses need trained professionals dedicated to student behavior and crisis response. I will also fight to raise the minimum wage, expand the workforce, and create better jobs so families can build stability and opportunity within the district.
